A mum has hit out after her "vulnerable" son's violent arrest was caught on camera. Victoria Doyle, 39, said she fell to her knees when she saw what had happened to her son Jason, 19.
The teenager suffers from mental health problems and was arrested following a police raid at one of his neighbours' homes. Another neighbour managed to film part of his arrest.
The video shows two police officers appearing to pull Jason down to the ground and holding him down. A third officer, dressed in plain clothes, then tries to handcuff him.
A fourth officer moves in and appears to swing a punch at Jason while he is on the ground. The incident is now being investigated by professional standards.
Liverpool Echo reports the incident took place on the morning of Friday, March 22, 2024. Victoria, 39, from the Liverpool suburb of Speke says her son was injured during the arrest.
They said the footage "viewed in isolation could be a cause for public concern", but added it was "important that the full circumstances of the incident are fully investigated."
Victoria said Jason, who suffers from poor mental health, had gone out to buy a bottle of washing-up liquid for his mum when he spotted police cars outside a neighbour's house on Dam Wood Road, Speke.
According to Victoria, when he saw the neighbour might be taken away by police, he asked them if they needed their dogs feeding while they were away.
The mum-of-two, who was on the phone to Jason at the time, then heard a police officer telling him to put the phone down. When the teenager refused, the officer allegedly swore at Jason.
