A mum was left "really offended" by her friend's shocking reaction to a present she had bought for her newborn child.
The woman had thoughtfully sent her friend, whose baby is only three months old, a set of clothing in a "really pale pink" and "really pale yellow" - only to be astounded by her rude response.
Reaching out to other parents on Mumsnet's popular Am I Being Unreasonable [AIBU] thread, she asked for advice on how to deal with the situation, the Liverpool Echo reports.
In a post titled ‘Sorry the colour doesn’t suit my baby’, the mum wrote: "Sent a friend with a new baby some clothes - one thing was a really pale pink and the other thing was a really pale yellow. It was like a T-shirt and joggers set thing that I got in a small independent shop.
"No thank you - just a comment that the colours weren’t right. The baby is 3 months old.
"Aibu [am I being unreasonable] to think I would never have dreamed of making such a comment. I had some really unusual colours but I smiled, said thank you & the kids wore them as I was grateful to receive gifts. I feel really offended - they weren’t cheap either".
In a follow up comment, the mum added: "We got given a brown velour furry track suit thing when my DS [dear son] was born and while not to my taste, he still wore it loads!! Because it was a gift, babies can wear anything and it meant I didn’t have to buy stuff [as] he grew!! People were so generous with their gifts that I would have never said anything other than thank you!!!"
Fellow Mumsnet users rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts.
One said: "She’s not a friend! Sorry she was so rude to you but I think you’ve learnt your lesson now."
