MTV VMAs 2022: Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar lead nominations

Reading & Leeds Festival organisers have said that Måneskin and Jack Harlow pulled out of this year’s festival to play an awards ceremony.This year’s R+L falls on the same weekend that both acts will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards.Harlow had been due to perform alongside Arctic Monkeys on Leeds Festival’s final day with Måneskin appearing before Rage Against The Machine on Reading’s closing (August 28) – the same day as this year’s VMAs in Newark, New Jersey.Måneskin, however, announced earlier this month that they were pulling out of this year’s Reading & Leeds due to “scheduling conflicts”.In a statement issued at the time on social media, the band wrote: “We are sad to announce that unfortunately due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we are no longer able to perform at Readings & Leeds festival this year.

2022 MTV Video Music Awards are right around the corner and the latest batch of performers has been announced. Lizzo, Jack Harlow, BLACKPINK and Måneskin are all on tap to hit the stage at New Jerseys' Prudential Center on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Kendrick Lamar has declared fellow Californian rapper, songwriter and record producer Baby Keem – who is also Lamar’s cousin – to be a “musical genius”.Being relatives, Lamar and Keem have worked closely together since the latter started his career in the mid-2010s. One of Keem’s earliest credits was a nod for production on ‘Redemption Interlude’, a track on Lamar’s 2018 soundtrack for Black Panther.

MTV Video Music Awards will air on August 28th. While no host has been announced, over the past weeks MTV has released the list of nominees and the evening’s performers.

Kendrick Lamar has responded to footage of a security guard being brought to tears during one of his recent performances.In a clip that was shared on TikTok and has since gone viral, the security guard can be seen wiping tears away while Lamar performs his ‘DAMN.’ cut ‘Love’ at a show in Houston, Texas. The guard can then be seen rapping along to the lyric, “I’m like an exit away.”During a local TV interview, the guard, whose name is Devyn Sanford, later explained what he went through.
