‘Mrs. Davis’: David Arquette & Elizabeth Marvel To Recur In Peacock Drama Series

Apple TV+ is busily adding cast to its The Buccaneers-inspired drama series, with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’s Josh Dylan the latest to join alongside Guy Remmers (Lessons), Matthew Broome (Scandaltown) and Barney Fishwick (Living).

Lashay Anderson (Rebel Cheer Squad) and Faith Alabi (Industry) have been cast as series regulars opposite Adrienne Warren, Mia Isaac and Ashley Thomas in Hulu drama series Black Cake, from Marissa Jo Cerar, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Films, and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Additionally, Ahmed Elhaj (Grantchester) has been tapped for a recurring role in the project.

There are few athletes with such an interesting, if not troubled history as Mike Tyson. His story is seemingly tailor-made for a film or TV adaptation.

Freeform has picked up to series The Watchful Eye (fka The Nanny) drama with Mariel Molino (Promised Land) set to lead the ensemble cast. The Watchful Eye (fka The Nanny), which was ordered to pilot last year, hails from Julie Durk (Grace and Frankie), Ryan Seacrest Productions and ABC Signature.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterTaylor Sheridan is stepping in as showrunner on his Paramount+ series “Lioness,” Variety has learned exclusively.Thomas Brady (“NOS4A2,” “Hell on Wheels”) was originally attached as showrunner and was present throughout the show’s writers’ room. But once the writers’ room wrapped, sources say creative differences led to the producers and Brady agreeing to part ways. Production on the show is slated to begin in September.Sheridan created “Lioness” under his expansive overall deal with Paramount.

Apple TV+ is close to a series order for dramedy Government Cheese, starring and executive produced by David Oyelowo. In addition to Oyelowo, the project hails from creators Paul Hunter and Aeyesha Carr (Midnight Run, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Macro Television Studios and Apple Studios.

Apple TV+ has given an eight-episode series order to a one-hour drama inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel The Buccaneers, with Kristine Froseth (The Assistant), Alisha Boe (When You Finish Saving The World), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aubri Ibrag (Dive Club), Imogen Waterhouse (The Outpost) and Mia Threapleton (Shadows) cast as the buccaneers.

Over the years since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, we’ve seen quite a few films and TV projects dedicated to telling that story.
