In 2022, Daniel Kaluuya won an Oscar for portraying the betrayed deputy chairman, Fred Hampton, in the bio-crime drama, “Judas and the Black Messiah.” Now, a new limited series, “The Big Cigar,” based on a Playboy Article by Joshuah Bearman (known for the Wired Article that inspired “Argo”), tells the too-good-to-be-true story of Black Panther co-founder Huey Percy Newton’s escape to Cuba with the assistance of a famous film producer.

Some shows are big cultural hits and juggernauts, and some quietly go on season after season; maybe not a huge critical giant, but there are enough ardent fans to justify their existence. And that’s probably where Apple TV+’s “Trying,” a heartwarming British comedy television series created by Andy Wolton (“The Amazing World of Gumball”), lands; it has its fans, and it keeps successfully chugging along, though to be fair, it does have its U.K.

Caroline Brew editor Sony and Apple have released the first trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon,” a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, which is set to premiere on July 12. The film is set against the 1960s space race and features Johansson as a marketing exec hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails. Apple won the project in a $100 million deal following a bidding war in 2022, and the project was formerly known as “Project Artemis.” Chris Evans was first set to play Tatum’s role, while Oscar nominee Johansson — who also produces — has been attached to the film since its inception.
