Alex Ritman Will Smith has lined up another hot title to his list of upcoming projects, having signed up to lead the cast of high-octane action thriller “Sugar Bandits.” Based on the Chuck Hogan book “Devils in Exile,” the thriller centres on an Iraq War veteran who teams up with a crew of fellow vets to target the drug trade in Boston. Hogan — whose writing credits include “The Town” and “The Strain” (which he co-wrote with Guillermo del Toro) — penned the screenplay. AGC International and CAA Media Finance represent the film’s worldwide distribution rights and will introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming EFM.

Valerie Wu Intern Gru and the Minions are back, as Universal and Illumination’s “Despicable Me 4” has released its first trailer. The film, which hits theaters on July 3, 2024, continues the popular animated franchise, which follows the reformed supervillain Gru (Steve Carrell) trying to do good and finding family while he’s at it. Caroline Brew editor Hulu debuted first look images from its new limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones,” starring Joey King and Logan Lerman. The first three episodes will premiere on the streamer on March 28, with the following episodes coming out weekly. The series is a television adaptation of Georgia Hunter’s novel “We Were the Lucky Ones.” Based on a true story, the show follows a Jewish family separated at the start of World War II on their quest to survive and reunite, per the release.
