Michelle Heaton has battled back from the brink of alcoholism to land herself a huge TV break. The Gateshead-born singer has signed up for Dancing on Ice and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins - saying that there is no way she would ever risk toppling her newfound success on national TV screens for a tipple. The Mirror reports that Michelle, 43, got sober 18 months ago, and said: “There’s no way I am going back to that way of life.

The mum-of-two hit the bottle after having an elective double mastectomy, hysterectomy and going through the early menopause. She had previously been was diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene, which meant she had an 80 per cent chance of developing breast cancer.
Michelle went to rehab following an intervention from her family and best friend Katie Price, and has since turned her life around. However, she also admits she will always be battling addiction.
