, the HBO series ended on a high note with the surprise return of original cast member and star Quinta Brunson. The season 3 finale opened with an action-packed sketch that saw her reuniting with her former co-stars -- and series creator Robin Thede breaks down how it all came together. “It was a really fun sketch for her to be a part of for a number of reasons,” Thede tells ET about getting Brunson to return for the finale, which saw her walking down a back alley in “Rain Fighter” as she’s forced to face off with Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Skye Townsend, who play various villainous hair styles. Of course, getting their former co-star back on the sketch series was no easy feat. “Quinta [had to] move mountains to be a part of the finale because she loves us and we love her,” Thede says, explaining that the actress was busy working on the ABC breakout sitcom, which first premiered in December 2021.
The film version of Len Deighton’s “The Ipcress File,” released in 1965, isn’t exactly the kind of thing that feels like it could support six chapters of episodic television. Ready to rock?Castle Rock Entertainment, Rob Reiner’s company that recently re-launched its film division after going somewhat dormant, is back and with a big new project to shop around the Cannes Film Festival: “Spinal Tap II,” a sequel to 1984’s immortal comedy classic “This is Spinal Tap.” And what’s more – everybody is back, including Reiner (as director and in the film as Marty DiBergi), Harry Shearer, Michael McKean and Christopher Guest, sources with knowledge confirm to TheWrap. No plot details for “Spinal Tap 2” have been revealed but it’ll undoubtedly be another faux documentary chronicling the sunset years of England’s most controversial rock band and navigating a very different pop culture landscape. (If you thought “Smell the Glove” was offensive back then!)The package should generate a lot of interest at Cannes, especially since they are showing the original film on the beach as part of the Cinema de la Plage sidebar on Wednesday, May 18.
