Melissa McCarthy and the rest of the cast of Gilmore Girls felt the heat when they were filming the show.
In a recent interview, the 52-year-old The Little Mermaid actress opened up about a pretty big drawback to filming the show in California. In fact, it was so bad that there was once a serious consequence!
She also pondered on what her character Sookie St. James would be doing in 2023.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Melissa explained that the California heat (they filmed in Burbank) made it really difficult to replicate Connecticut winters (the show was based in the fictional Connecticut town Stars Hollow).
“Sometimes we were like crammed into small things with coats on but it was actually like 112 degrees in Burbank,” she said, adding that it was so bad in the first season that someone even passed out.
“Like just out cold because we were all in coats and trying to look blustery,” she explained.
Melissa had a solid idea of what Sookie would be up to: “She still cooks, but I think she does edibles… I think they [she and Jackson] run a very nice little mom-and-pop business with their 13 kids and she makes delicious edibles.”
The actress recently shared a surprising anecdote about watching the show now.
