Meghan Markle is said to be using Princess Diana's legacy to boost her new business, according to a Royal expert. The Duchess of Sussex revealed her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, on Thursday.
The brand will focus on homewares, cookbooks and food. Meghan's fans were surprised to learn that she plans to launch her own range of jellies, jams and nut butters, as well as stylish tablecloths, silverware and napkins.
She announced her new brand, which has already been compared to Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop, on the same day that William and Harry were giving speeches at the Diana Legacy Awards in London.
Just hours before her brother-in-law delivered a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, who passed away in 1997, Meghan launched the American Riviera Orchard brand on Instagram, surprising her fans and followers according to the Mirror.
Harry and William both showed up at the awards, but while Prince Charles was there in person, the Duke of Sussex gave his speech over video-link, only after his older brother had left the event.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said that the timing of the launch wasn't a coincidence, and suggested Meghan had purposely waited until the day of the Diana Legacy Awards to get more attention as people were already looking at her husband's "very sad" public disagreement with his brother William.
"The timing simply means that obviously (yesterday would have got them) a lot of promotion. Obviously, so, it's obvious why they chose this time. As far as the timing is concerned it's perfectly obvious why the Sussexes have done this - they always plan pretty meticulously," he told The Sun. "There's no doubt that they never do anything accidentally."
