Tomorrow will mark the first anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth's death and the royal family will undoubtedly be taking some time to reflect on their own precious memories of the former monarch, who reigned for Britain for 70 years.
However, it appears that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not get the opportunity to reminisce together as he will most likely still be in the UK while the 42-year-old duchess stays behind in California.
The duke is attending a charity awards ceremony in London tonight before flying out to Germany for the Invictus Games, which begin on September 9.
The couple just happened to be in the UK together this time last year when Her Majesty entered her final hours and they extended their stay in Britain to attend ceremonies and her state funeral.
The Queen peacefully passed away at Balmoral on September 8 last year at age 96, the Mirror reports.
Her sad death came just days after Meghan's controversial interview with US magazine The Cut about her family life in California after stepping down from royal duties.
In the interview, she disclosed that she did not have to sign a NDA when she and Prince Harry made their dramatic exit from the royal family in 2020.
She also revealed that she had kept a journal during her time as a member of 'the Firm' at Frogmore Cottage and had discovered it when she returned to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last summer.
She tellingly said: "It's interesting, I've never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking. I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to."
When asked by the interviewer why she hasn't opened up to anyone about her true experience, Meghan replied that she was "still healing".

Thomas Markle is pissed off!
While all eyes were on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Invictus Games last week, their estranged sister-in-law the Princess of Wales fought back by showing off a glamorous new look - all the while keeping a dignified silence about their well-publicised visit to Germany. “Kate’s not stupid. She wants any engagements that she’s involved in to get their rightful attention and coverage, and making sure she looks her best and behaves her best is part of that,” royal expert Duncan Larcombe tells new.
Prince Harry closed out the 2023 edition of his Invictus Games with a rousing speech to the athletes who competed, while also sneaking in a veiled dig at the royal family.
“Scandals of the Royal Palaces” author Tom Quinn, the former actress, 42, felt “shunted off” when she and Harry moved into the two-bedroom abode that is nestled on the grounds of Kensington Palace.Quinn told the Mirror‘s “Pod Save The Queen” podcast recently that Markle seemingly was “drawn in” by the idea of the royal family and was disheartened to learn she would be residing “in a little cottage” rather than a palace.“I think that actually, she wasn’t too keen on that,” he said. “It seemed like they were being shunted off to a little prefab in the grounds.”“Finding Freedom” authors Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie, however, claimed that the “Suits” alum was ecstatic to live at the quaint bungalow. They wrote in the biography: “After months of long-distance, Meghan was thrilled to finally be sharing a postcode, W8 4PY, with her partner.”“She felt at home at [Nottingham Cottage] with Harry -— she’s always been able to bloom where she was planted, but she hadn’t moved to London to start a new job,” they added.
Royal fans have been patiently waiting for Meghan Markle to make an appearance at the 2023 Invictus Games. Now, the 42-year-old has joined her husband Prince Harry in Dusseldorf, Germany and apologised for 'being late to the party'. Harry, who founded the games in 2014, gave his wife the spotlight and centre stage to give a poignant speech to the 1,600 attendees, including competitors, friends and family.
Well, this was (allegedly) rude!
new poll conducted by Newsweek, Prince Harry, 38, is slightly more popular than his wife, 42 — at least, among those surveyed in the US.The poll asked 1,500 adults between September 3 and 4 their feelings about the ex-royals, finding that 33% of people reported their dislike for Markle, while a rivaling 31% said the opposite. This gives her a net approval rating of -2, according to the outlet. The former “Suits” star is down eight points from the outlet’s last royal poll that took place in June.
A set of photos posted by Meghan Markle reportedly "sparked a war" between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the now-Queen Camilla. Meghan, 42, was photographed on a visit to London's National Theatre in March 2020 as part of her duties as royal patron, just weeks before she and Prince Harry officially stepped down from royal duties. The photos were then uploaded to the Sussexes's now-deleted Instagram account, which saw the mum-of-two posing in a white blouse and pencil skirt as she visited the theatre's Immersive Storytelling Studio.

It is understood the King and Queen Consort are not expected to attend any public engagements during the week of the anniversary.
Meghan Markle was living it up with her Hollywood pals without husband Prince Harry. After fans posted photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Beyoncé concert in Los Angeles on Friday, some claimed that Harry looked "bored" or even "miserable." Monday night, Markle saw the "Crazy in Love" singer again, this time without her husband. Markle was seen at the show posing with actress Kerry Washington and Kelly Rowland, a singer and, along with Beyoncé, a former member of the group Destiny's Child.
It's fast approaching the one year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death as Prince Harry is set to return to the UK on the eve of the date.
After a mysterious Instagram account emerged last week with the handle @meghan, royal expert Tessa Dunlop believes the Duchess of Sussex's exciting new career move - if successful - could see her supersede the Princess of Wales in the eyes of the public. Meghan's team confirmed last week that the former Suits actress is currently planning to "re-launch" on social media, warning spectators to "expect an announcement very soon".

More than five years after the couple tied the knot, Waight Keller revealed she stitched blue fabric from the dress Markle wore on their first date into her iconic wedding wear.“We basically sewed it into the hem of the wedding dress, so she was the only one that knew that it was there. It was a little blue gingham check,” Waight Keller told Vanity Fair in a new interview.
