Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's short message to Kate Middleton after she announced her cancer diagnosis would have been appreciated, but the pair returning to the UK would not be as it would only serve as a 'distraction', an expert claims.
The Princess of Wales bravely announced she has cancer in a televised video message on Friday evening and has been inundated with messages of love and support since then.
Among those sending their well wishes were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who are believed to have found out about their sister-in-law's poor health when the rest of the world did with them reportedly being kept in the dark until the global announcement.
Royal biographer and historian Hugo Vickers has applauded Harry and Meghan for their response to Kate's news but has urged them to stay put in the US rather than return to the UK which would be 'distracting'.
Vickers praised the message from the Sussexes' as 'lovely' but said the sad news is unlikely to see Harry and William reunite, the Mirror reports.
In an interview, he said: "I don't think that's on the cards at the moment to be honest. There's an awful lot of things that have to happen before that is a possibility. I think that would just be a nasty distraction I think."
In the wake of Kate Middleton's shock cancer announcement, which she is undergoing treatment for, Meghan and Harry released an official statement which read: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
Public relations guru Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR also claims that their short message and the fact they found out alongside the public shows just how serious the rift is between Harry and William, which shows no signs of mending
