Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's desperate attempts to reshape their narrative have been "blown out of the water", a royal expert claims.
The past year has been somewhat of a tremulous ride for the Sussexes, with their multi-million dollar contract with Spotify being terminated and no end in sight to their frosty relations with the Royal Family.
Last month, royal author Omid Scobie stirred the pot even more in the ongoing Sussex-Royal feud as his explosive new book Endgame hit the shelves.
Scobie, who previously wrote a very precarious biography that largely favoured the couple, appeared to re open some old wounds when he reignited a race row in the family, the Mirror reports.
It came after a Dutch edition of his new book named the two members of the Firm who allegedly raised 'concerns' about the colour of Prince Archie's skin before he was born.
The shocking claims were first made in 2021 during the Sussexes' bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in which Meghan claimed that a member of the Firm had questioned how dark her son's skin would be but refused to name the culprit.
Speaking to True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat, The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson says the book has really derailed the Sussexes' attempts at changing public perception.
He explained: "I thought they were doing really well keeping out of negative headlines...but Endgame blew that all out of the water and then all the negative headlines went back on to them. I think they are going in the right direction.
"They are trying to market Meghan as a California girl, and I think they just need to carry on down that kinder gentler route, not having rows with the Royal Family and just enjoying their life in California. T

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly ready to leave their Montecito mansion after reports from neighbours that they're 'never in'.
As reported continue to swirl that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying to action their '2024 redemption plan', a royal author has claimed Prince William and Kate Middleton have made it "clear" the Sussexes are not welcome in the Royal Family. Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, are said to be working on rehabilitating their image after a drama-filled few years, but the couple failed to attend another Christmas with the Royal Family, opting to remain in California.
According to one royal author, Prince Harry’s wife is ‘desperate to have her say’ following the fireworks that were caused by Omid Scobie’s controversial book, Endgame. Tom Bower has claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, based in Montecito, California, would like nothing more than to wipe the slate clean this year, and that Meghan has been left “bruised” by the backlash received by the book, described as a “gratuitous attack” on Kate Middleton.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's hopes of redeeming their relationship with the Royal Family in 2024 have already been destroyed after the couple failed to "show unity" once again at Christmas time according to a royal author.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's plans for redemption in 2024 have been ruined, according to one royal author, after they decided to spend Christmas in California, rather than with the other Royals at Sandringham. It comes after a rather mixed year for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with Prince Harry's memoir Spare becoming the fastest selling non-fiction book in the UK since records began.
Princess Catherine is over wasting her energy on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Christmases have been different since they left the royal family in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last spent the festive period with the Royal Family on the Sandringham Estate in 2018. A year later, they decided to celebrate in America with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland before stepping back from The Firm in 2020 and permanently moving to the States.
Far from the world of royal banquets and formal regal traditions, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex prefer a more low-key Christmas these days. Since moving to balmy Montecito in California in March 2020, Harry, Meghan and their two children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, have opted for relaxed festive celebrations on their luxury five-acre estate. “We’re probably talking barbecues and walks on the beach for the Sussexes rather than obligatory black-tie dinners and pheasant shoots at Sandringham,” says royal expert Duncan Larcombe.
With Christmas only days away, the Royal Family will be making their final preparations to head off to Sandringham to enjoy the festive season together. Despite an invitation having reportedly been extended, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex look set to remain in California with their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. While this does not come as a surprise after a turbulent year of veiled attacks in the form of books, documentaries and interviews, it is likely the couple will enjoy an intimate festive season.
Omid Scobie’s rumoured “party pal” Jodie Marsh has publicly hit out at the showbiz journalist and branded him “toxic” after his book Endgame was released last month, while also shutting down rumours that she ever partied with him. The controversial author sparked widespread outrage among royal fans last month when a Dutch translation of his book named two members of the royal family that he claimed made racist remarks about the colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ’s unborn child Archie, prior to his birth in 2019.
The Royal Family will be gathering in Sandringham to celebrate Christmas together, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won't be joining in on the fun.
The Royal Family will arrive at Sandringham for their annual Christmas celebrations later this week, and this year's is set to be bigger than most.
Vanity Fair that there is absolutely “no chance” of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joining the family at Sandringham for the holidays. The reason?Harry’s estranged brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, allegedly have “hostility” toward them. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 41, also refuse to be in the same room as the Invictus Games founder, 39, and the former actress, 42, “let alone spend Christmas with them.”King Charles III is reportedly anxious about inviting the couple to the Yuletide holiday, but would have “loved nothing more than” to celebrate with his son and grandkids, Archie and Lilibet.“But it’s not that simple and there is no chance the Sussexes will be coming,” the source explained. “It would make things very difficult because there is still so much hostility towards Harry and Meghan, particularly from the Prince and Princess of Wales.”“Charles is also deeply nervous about the risks of conversations being leaked by the Sussex camp, which is why there have been very few of them.”Things have been tense within the Firm in recent months, with the release of Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame” in November. The Dutch version of the biography named two members of the royal family that allegedly raised questions about the color of Archie’s skin before he was born.Middleton, 41, and Charles, 75, were the two people who reportedly made the racist comments, according to Piers Morgan.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Hollywood plan has reportedly "backfired" as crisis managers say they will have to work very hard to "recover" from the fallout of Endgame.
Meghan Markle is said to be hoping to arrange a "part time" reunion with the Royal Family.
Just when it looked like the relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family might be thawing, it seems a new crisis may have aggravated the situation, and the battle rages on. First, Prince Harry joined his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, to lift the lid on royal life to Oprah Winfrey back in 2021, and more recent revelations in Harry’s autobiography Spare caused major upset for the royals.
Meghan Markle is rumoured to be in the works of penning her own explosive memoir following the success of Prince Harry's Spare which was released in January this year.

A new edition of Royal book Endgame has been released in Holland with "hundreds" of changes have been made to it, Dutch journalist Rick Evers has claimed. Rick took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, 8 December, to highlight the small tweaks made to the controversial book, which was first published in November.
