Matt Lucas to compete in Bake Off after stepping in for Martine McCutcheon at the last minute

Example has revealed that Matt Lucas had to step in as a contestant on The Great Celebrity Bake Off after Martine McCutcheon pulled out of the show last minute. The Great British Bake Off special in aid of Stand up to Cancer has seen a new host of celebrities step into the famous tent to bake for the judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.
The 39 year old musician appeared on Lorraine to talk to Ranvir Singh about the latest episode - which airs tomorrow night - and revealed why Matt had to step in on the morning of filming. “So I’m pretty sure that Matt Lucas jumped in at the last minute as obviously he was meant to be one of the presenters.” The father of two praised Matt for stepping in with “no preparation” and taking on the challenge. “I think fair play to him as a lot of people will think maybe he wanted to do this and he didn’t want to do it as he had no preparation,” he explained.
