A number of people were forced to be rescued from a Scots mountain last night during arctic conditions as they waded through "waist deep" snow in the pitch black darkness.

Firefighters are currently battling a massive blaze that is ripping its way through a Scots bowling club.
Crews were scrambled to Claremont Gardens in Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, after receiving the alarm at 7.14am today. Six fire engines have been sent to tackle the inferno, which remains ongoing.
Dramatic images from the incident show the fire ripping through the premises - with the club's roof and windows completely destroyed. Thick pockets of smoke can be seen billowing into the sky near local residences as firefighters work to put flames out.
Officers from Police Scotland have also attended the scene to assist firefighters with the ongoing incident. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.
Meanwhile, local residents have been asked asked to ensure all windows and doors remain shut due to smoke in the atmosphere, particularly in the direction of Ellangown Road. There are no reported injuries.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.14am on Friday, November 25 to reports of a building fire in Claremont Gardens, Milngavie. Operations Control mobilised a total of six fire appliances and crews remain in attendance.
"There are no reported casualties."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7am on Friday, November 25, police were called to the Claremont Drive area of Milngavie, following a report of a fire at the local bowling club. Emergency services remain in the area and enquiries to establish the cause of the fire will be carried out.
"There have been no injuries reported.”
