Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who he met on set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
A New York jury found Majors, 34, guilty of assault and harassment after four hours of deliberation following a three day trial. He was acquitted of a different assault charge and of aggravated harassment, reports the Mirror.
The Marvel actor was accused by his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari of domestic violence and manipulation. Jonathan was arrested after an incident on March 25.
A dispute between the Creed III actor and Ms Jabbari began in the back seat of a chauffeured car in Manhattan. Ms Jabbari, a British dancer, 30, accused Majors of an attack inside the vehicle that left her in "excruciating" pain.
She claimed that she suffered injuries including a cut behind her ear and a swollen finger. She said he hit her in the head with his open hand, twisted her arm behind her back and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured.
Majors denied the allegations and said that Ms Jannari was the aggressive one and she flew into a jealous rage after reading a text message on his phone sent by another woman. His lawyer called the driver of the vehicle to the stand who testified that he believed it was Grace who initiated the violence.
Ms Jannari called the police the next day after the incident. She said a string of incidents allegedly led up to the incident and his arrest. Grace described Jonathan as a "controlling, manipulative" partner. In the closing statements, Grace's attorney explained: "What this really boils down to is four simple words: control, domination, manipulation and abuse. The tactics used by those who commit domestic violence against partners, against Grace."
