Martin Lewis has admitted he is 'disappointed' as a change he had campaigned for to help first-time buyers was dismissed in the Spring Budget. Jeremy Hunt delivered his plans in the House of Commons on Wednesday (March 6) with some key cuts to tax and spending announced.
There were also some announcements set to affect homeowners, with the Chancellor revealing he will scrap tax breaks for second homeowners who let out their properties to tourists in a bid to improve the availability of long-term rentals.
Ahead of the Budget, experts expected there to be other changes made to the property sector, including Stamp Duty cuts and 99 percent mortgages which would allow first-time buyers to purchase their first home with just a 1 percent deposit.

Potential changes to Lifetime ISAs (LISAs) were also rumoured to be on the cards, something which Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis has been pleading for.
A Lifetime ISA is an effective way for first-time buyers to save money towards purchasing their first home, helping more people onto the property ladder. LISAs can be opened by anyone aged 18 to 39 who has never bought a home, and you can put the money you save towards your first home or your retirement.
LISA savers currently get a 25 percent bonus from the government on top of their savings, with a maximum amount of £4,000 that can be saved each year for up to 31 years.
However, one of the flaws is that first-time buyers will receive a penalty charge if the amount they've saved is used on buying a property that is priced over £450,000, a limit which has remained unchanged since 2017 despite house prices continuing to rise.
