Married At First Sight star Nathanial Valentino has been diagnosed with social anxiety following his appearance on the Channel 4 reality show last year. Nathanial opened up about his struggles in a new interview, as he revealed he won't be appearing at the MAFS reunion. The 36-year-old model has told how his sleep patterns and concentration have suffered and at one point he struggled to get out of bed for two weeks.
Nathanial branded MAFS "toxic" and a "horrible environment", admitting he didn't return for the reunion as he didn't want "to be around those people or the producers". Nathanial told MailOnline: "I have been diagnosed with social anxiety, which impacts my sleep and concentration. After the show, I lost weight, I had constant rashes of eczema all over my body and face, I was basically in bed for two weeks." He said he "stepped back" from his life and considered all of the "most important" things, before proceeding to remove everything he considered "toxic" from his life.
The MAFS UK reunion is due to air on Monday, 26 February, on E4 but Nathanial won't be appearing. Explaining why he chose not to attend filming for the spin-off show, he added: "It was clear after I didn't come back for the most recent reunion that I wouldn't film again. I actually haven't had much contact with Channel 4 since the show launched in September.
"I didn't want to be around those people or the producers, it was a toxic, horrible environment and I didn't want to be part of it." Nathanial was paired with Ella Morgan on the reality TV show, but the pair's marriage failed to last. Nathanial dramatically quit the experiment after finding out Ella had been getting to know JJ Slater behind his back. He hasn't held back about his time on
