Manchester United are about to enter the final week of the transfer window and there are still plenty of deals to be done.
Erik ten Hag’s side have adopted a clear-headed approach to new recruits, so far this summer. The arrival of Andre Onana to replace David De Gea, the addition of Mason Mount in midfield, and pinning their long-term striker hopes on Rasmus Hojlund was evidence of a strategy.
However, United’s performances have provided the manager with problems to ponder over, particularly in midfield. Meanwhile, the club are still looking to cash in on several players who are deemed surplus to requirements. Here is the ideal scenario that could play out for Manchester United ahead of the transfer deadline:

The most pressing issue for Ten Hag is to resolve his side’s balance in midfield. United are understood to be considering a move for Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch, who previously worked with the manager at Ajax.
Gravenberch, 21, is a box-to-box midfielder but has the defensive capabilities to support Casemiro, who has been left exposed by the more advanced duo of Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes. Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is another option for the club and signing either player would see United fulfil one of their top priorities.
Goalkeeper is another area of the side that could be addressed before the September 1 deadline. While Andre Onana has already settled well into his role as United’s number one, the competition behind the Cameroon international is more of a concern.
Tom Heaton was initially used as the team’s second-choice but an injury to the experienced ‘keeper has seen Dean Henderson return to the fold.
