Manchester United have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Declan Rice, according to reports.
United have reportedly been keen on the West Ham United midfielder for some time and remain in the battle to secure his signature alongside Manchester rivals City.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues would like to reunite Rice with his good friend Mason Mount but both United and City are in better positions to get the deal over the line.
Rice still has two and a half years remaining on his London Stadium contract, so David Moyes will be under no pressure to sell the 23-year-old on the cheap.
Meanwhile, it is thought that West Ham have still not given up on Jesse Lingard.
Speaking to talkSPORT, journalist Alex Crook said: "They’ve not given up hope, I’m told, of prizing Jesse Lingard away from Manchester United.
"So West Ham could be one of the busier clubs in the Premier League come the next couple of weeks.”
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are both thought to be keen on the United midfielder with the former believed to be in the driving seat for his signature.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are believed to have changed their stance on the future of Eric Bailly.
Bailly has two and a half years left to run on his contract but it is believed that United want rid of the centre half.
AC Milan are willing to take Bailly off of Ralf Rangnick's hands but up until now were only willing to bring him in on loan - a deal United refused as they would like to see him go permanently.
But, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Red Devils are now willing to let Bailly leave on loan.
Milan are currently weighing up their options before deciding whether or not to bring the Ivory Coast international to the San Siro.
