Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has expressed his intention to manage a top European club in the future.
Rooney has so far managed Derby County and his current employers DC United. Fnancial difficulties led to trouble off the pitch with the Rams and the ex-United striker could not stop a relegation to League One.
The 37-year-old subsequently joined his old MLS club in the Eastern Conference. Currently, the Washington based franchise sit in the last Final Series play off spot.

Previously, Rooney has been linked with the managerial position at his boyhood club Everton and on July 19, the Englishman will get the chance to pit his wits against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal in the MLS All-Stars match. Rooney has been chosen as head coach because he is the manager of the host city's club. Speaking ahead of the match, the former United man explained his goals as a boss in the future.
"Occasions like the All-Star Game remind me why I chose to continue my journey as a coach here in MLS," he said. "My aspiration is to manage at an elite European club someday, and in those environments, you’re working with very diverse teams with elite professionals from all over the world.
"I’ve found I could actually get that experience here, which helps me a lot. At DC United, for example, we’ve got players from more than a dozen nations, representing different cultures, religions, and backgrounds.
