Manchester United hero John O’Shea has told Jadon Sancho that apologising to Erik ten Hag is the only way to find a quick resolution to his standoff.
The winger has been excluded from first-team training after refusing to say sorry to his boss for accusing him of lying about the reason he was dropped from the squad against Arsenal.
In a now-deleted social media post, the 23-year-old said that the manager’s accusation that his training levels were poor was "completely untrue" and claimed he had been a "scapegoat for a long time". O’Shea says the situation is straight-forward and the only way to enact a quick return to the pitch is to apologise.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Reds defender said: "Yeah, obviously look it does [seems like an extreme punishment] but very simply for me, it boils down to an argument between the manager and a player.
"Ultimately, the manager generally wins and that's always been the case. If Jadon wants to get back playing football for United as quickly as possible, look maybe he might not mean it but just go and apologise.
"Then you're back involved in the squad and back involved with a chance to play. I know it's not ideal with how public it's been but it can be resolved very quickly."
Sancho - who is open to leaving Old Trafford - deactivated his Instagram account on Tuesday, although his X (formerly Twitter) account remains live. He will not feature against Crystal Palace in Tuesday’s League Cup match.
Asked what would have happened under former boss Sir Alex Ferguson, O’Shea replied: "You might have been banished from the UK, never mind the training ground!"
