However, he took the opportunity to slate Gakpo on Friday evening after it emerged that Feyenoord boss Arne Slot was set to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in the summer. Responding to a post that confirmed an agreement had been reached between all parties, Roberto wrote: "They acc [actually] think this bald [referring to Slot] can make Gakpo run faster."

Gakpo, who was linked with a move to Old Tafford, completed the £35million move to Liverpool in January 2023, and has struggled to replicate his sensational Eredivisie form and tie down a regular spot in Klopp's team.
