Police in Lanark have arrested a 22-year-old after a 25-year-old man was found dead in "suspicious" circumstances on Saturday morning.
Cops swooped on Mousebank Road in the Lanarkshire town shortly before 2am on July 16 following reports of a disturbance. There, officers found a 25-year-old who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Locals reported seeing scene of crime officers in white overalls laying out yellow evidence markers in the street at around 5.30am. Police Scotland has since confirmed that a 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and are continuing enquiries into the circumstances of the man's death.
One local said on social media: "What’s happening in Mousebank Road Lanark today @LanarkPolice Closed with police presence and yellow tags on the road. V V unusual."
Another added: "Can you please tell us what has happened in Lanark today? Just drove past a crime scene cordoned off road with loads of yellow markers everywhere?"
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received reports of a disturbance on Mousebank Road in Lanark around 1.55am on Saturday, 16 July, 2022. Emergency services attended, however a 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The death is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing."
