Stefan Ortega has sent a heartfelt message to supporters of German outfit Arminia Bielefeld amid reports that a Manchester City move is looming.
The Manchester Evening News previously reported that the club were after the goalkeeper as a backup to Ederson, with question marks hanging over the future of Zack Steffen. Ortega saved the most shots in the Bundesliga this season as his club were relegated from the top flight.
The 29-year-old came through the youth ranks at Arminia and has spent 12 years in the first team across two stints. But he becomes a free agent this summer, and with a new deal not signed, he confirmed his exit via Instagram on Monday.

He wrote: “It's time to say goodbye. I wanted to thank Arminia Bielefeld for an incredible 12 years.
“It was an indescribable journey in which I developed enormously both as a sportsman and as a person. We managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga, with a relegation the year after.
“I could always count on your support and will always be an Arminia fan. I wish the upcoming team and all fans only the best and maximum success.
“Stay healthy and thank you again for everything.” In 220 appearances for Arminia, Ortega kept 65 clean sheets.
