Manchester City have announced the signing of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate in a deal worth an initial £12.5m plus add-ons. The 18-year-old has signed a contract at the Etihad until June 2028 but will stay at the Argentinian club for the rest of 2024 as part of the arrangement.
City have signed the young midfielder from the same club they signed Julian Alvarez from two years ago. In that deal, City paid £14m for Alvarez and allowed him to spend six months back on loan at River Plate until the beginning of City's 2022/23 pre-season.
