Man, 26, arrested for 'attempted murder' after 34-year-old stabbed in Salford

An attempted murder investigation is underway after a 34-year-old man was stabbed in Salford. Greater Manchester Police says the man was stabbed inside a property on Taylorson Street, in Ordsall, earlier today (February 13).
Officers were called out to the scene at around 8.35am. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Following initial enquiries, police believe the incident took place at the Nine Acre Court flats. The offender made off from the scene and travelled on a tram into Manchester city centre, GMP says.

A 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near to New Islington. Detective Inspector Chris Horsfield, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “Our officers have arrested an individual on suspicion of attempted murder, and we are confident that this is a targeted attack and there is no wider risk to the community.
"I would urge members of the public that saw anything suspicious around 8:30am this morning around Taylorson Street or the Ordsall area of Salford, or witnessed the incident, to please come forward and report this information to us immediately. Your information no matter how small it may seem could be a huge help in our investigations going forward and will help us secure justice for the victim of this horrific attack."
Section 60 powers have now been authorised following the stabbing. It means officers in an area of Ordsall between the A56, Trafford Road and Regent Road can stop and search individuals.
