A major road in Prestwich has been forced to close after a sinkhole emerged in its surface.
Bury New Road has been shut in both directions this afternoon (Friday, July 16).
Police have been spotted at the scene, near to the junction with Kings Road in the Sedgley Park area.
Pictures show a gaping hole in the middle of the busy road - one of the main routes into Manchester city centre.
