Magnum P.I. is getting moved around!
Joe Otterson TV Reporter NBC is making changes to its fall 2023 schedule, with the broadcaster also setting premiere dates for the upcoming season. The broadcaster had previously announced its fall schedule on May 12, just 10 days into the writers’ strike that largely shut down Hollywood productions. But with no end to that strike in sight and SAG-AFTRA now joining the writers on the picket lines, NBC is being forced to shake things up. Most notably, the network is no longer planning on its Wednesday night “One Chicago” block, nor will episodes of “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU” air on Thursdays. Instead, NBC will air the season finale of “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and the People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday, Sept. 28. The network will then air reruns of “One Chicago” shows at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 4 followed by new episodes of “Quantum Leap” and “Magnum P.I.” “Quantum Leap” had finished the majority of its second season prior to the writers’ strike, while “Magnum P.I.” will debut the second part of its fifth and final season after moving to NBC from CBS.

long strange trip made its final stop.Deadheads from all corners of the world flocked to San Francisco’s Oracle Park Sunday night to see iconic jam band the Grateful Dead’s successor, Dead & Company, play the last show of their ‘Final Tour.’Two of the surviving members of the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart — along with singer-songwriter John Mayer, ex-Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and newly added drummer Jay Lane (who replaced one of the band’s original drummers, Bill Kreutzmann, for the final tour) — thrilled fans in the town where the original Dead was formed in 1965.Kicking off the three nights of their final tour on Friday, over 40,000 fans packed into the ballpark each night, with all three shows sold out. Deadheads were treated to some of the band’s more popular but cherished tunes, like “Bertha” and “Althea” during their first set, and after the intermission, heard Mayer slide on the guitar and bop around on stage to the likes of “Help on the Way” and “Cumberland Blues.”The band’s encore and final performance ever ended with “Truckin’,” “Brokedown Palace” and final send-off “Not Fade Away” — accompanied by a dazzling drone performance above the stadium — before Dead & Company gave their last bow to the audience as a band. For Deadheads tuning in via live stream through Nug.net — a live concert streaming service that had the exclusive rights to broadcast the show — the experience was less than ideal, with many missing segments of the show due to login issues or not being able to access their accounts in altogether for the final hurrah.‘The Final Tour’ started in Los Angeles on May 19, spanning to major US cities like New York and Chicago.Showing love from the Big
Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Remember AMC’s “The Walking Dead”? You know, the biggest series on TV at one time. Most-watched basic cable show in history, and I can guarantee that will never be topped. But yet, an Emmy dud. The series (which will live on via a frenzy of spin-offs) ended its run last November after 11 seasons… and it’s still ignored by TV Academy voters, failing to pick up a single nomination on Wednesday. And yet… this may have been the most successful year at the Emmys ever for “The Walking Dead.” That’s because two of the franchise’s most beloved actors, Steven Yeun and Jon Bernthal, picked up their first-ever Emmy nominations. Granted, it’s not for “The Walking Dead” — Yeun is nominated in lead limited/anthology actor for “Beef” and Bernthal is a comedy guest actor nominee for “The Bear” (which is about… Chicago’s “Beef” restaurant) — but at least it’s a belated victory for two actors that made a name for themselves by fighting zombies.
Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Unpack your knives and stay: Kristen Kish has been named the new host of Bravo’s “Top Chef,” following the exit of longtime staple Padma Lakshmi after the recently concluded “world all-stars” Season 20. Kish, who was the winner of Season 10 and has served as guest judges multiple times since, will begin her hosting duties with the upcoming Season 21, which Bravo has revealed will be set in Wisconsin. Head judge Tom Colicchio and judge Gail Simmons will both return for Season 21. Lakshmi announced her decision to step away from “Top Chef” just ahead of the Season 20 finale, which saw Buddha Lo take the title of world all-star in the special international season held in honor of the show’s 20th anniversary. Having hosted the show for 19 seasons, Lakshmi said she now needs to “make space” for her Hulu series “Taste the Nation,” her books and “other creative pursuits.”
Hulu). It’s not — at least in the first half of this 10-episode season, already ruined for me by a Deadline interview with series star Jeremy Allen White in which he describes his “Season 2 finale breakdown.” Cool, thanks so much for spoiling everything — something we try very hard not to do here unless absolutely necessary. This was not necessary. Delayed viewing, anyone? From what I’ve seen so far, Season 2 of “The Bear” is just meh — and is meandering through a sophomore slump, perhaps vis-á-vis the pressure to outdo its stellar inaugural season.
