Magnolia Takes Domestic Rights to Period Epic ‘King’s Land’ Starring Mads Mikkelsen

“Your memory makes you question the truth; the truth makes you question your memory” — so reads the message that scrolls in Prime Video’s latest trailer for “The Terminal List” titled “Perspective is Everything.” The upcoming psychological thriller-action series stars Chris Pratt as Navy Seal Lieutenant James Reece, who isn’t certain about his reality after his platoon is ambushed during combat. Also starring are Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch and Riley Keough with “Training Day” filmmaker Antoine Fuqua directing. It follows Reece as he investigates the circumstances surrounding the attack on his troop.

Emilio Mayorga Autour de Minuit, a co-producer of Annecy contender “Unicorn Wars,” has acquired international rights to another Annecy entry, the dialogue-free “Two Little Birds” (“Dos pajaritos”), a 20-episode series by Argentine animators Alfredo Soderguit and Alejo Schettini (2013 Bafici Audience Award winner “Anina”). The deal excludes co-production territories Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay.Produced by Luciana Roude at Argentina’s Can Can Club (“Teclópolis”), Soderguit at Uruguay’s Palermo Estudio (“Anina”) and pubcaster Señal Colombia, the ornithological slapstick comedy follows the hilarious situations lived by two little birds sharing the same tree.

“War Pony” wins Palm Dog AwardBrit the Silver Poodle, who stars in Riley Keough and Gina Gammell’s indigenous drama “War Pony,” took home the coveted Palm Dog collar, according to the Hollywood Reporter.The Palm Collar is awarded to the best performance by a canine or group of canines during the festival. Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentMagnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to “King’s Land,” a period epic movie reuniting “A Royal Affair” helmer Nikolaj Arcel with Mads Mikkelsen.

Magnolia Pictures acquired U.S. rights from TrustNordisk to King’s Land, a period epic starring Mads Mikkelsen and produced by Danish production house Zentropa. The film will be directed by Nikolaj Arcel, and is written by Arcel and Anders Thomas Jensen. Jensen and Mikkelsen most recently collaborated on Riders of Justice, and Arcel and Mikkelsen on the Oscar-nominated A Royal Affair. Production starts this summer.

Chris Pratt admitted he "sacrificed a lot" to film the "Jurassic World" trilogy. Sitting down with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard, Pratt explained it's "sad" to see the franchise come to an end. "Both of us sacrificed a lot over the past eight years, blessed beyond all belief to be a part of this thing, and it's sad," Pratt told the Associated Press.

Despite his stateside appeal, Mads Mikkelsen has never stopped making films in his native Denmark.
