Married At First Sight star Mel Schilling has shared an update on her health, as she gears up for treatment after announcing she was battling colon cancer last year. The relationship expert was doing an Instagram live video to share some tidbits about the latest Australian series, which is set to debut in the UK later this month. As she smiled from her sunny Australian home, the bubbly blonde star was receiving numerous questions from fans about how she was feeling.
Opening up on her condition and what's to come, the 52 year old expert admitted that she's finding work a "challenge" after going back to filming, but she's feeling positive.
The star began: "Thank you so much for checking in.
Thank you so much for showing such beautiful care. "I'm doing really well as you can probably tell. Having a little break here with the family and the sunshine at the moment.
"I'm back filming, it's a challenge and my energy is very much up and down," the TV favourite went on. "But I'm putting so much into my health and intake of food now, starting to look at food as fuel. "And I'm slowly, slowly starting to exercise again," Mel continued, before adding that she's due to embark on her chemotherapy treatment "in a few weeks" so that's "all ahead of her".
She then thanked her fans again, and said that the most important takeaway is learning to watch out for any worrying signs in your body so it can be found early and dealt with fast. "It's so important to listen to your body and if something feels wrong, check it out," the relationship guru added. Mel announced she had cancer along with a heart-wrenching snap of her cuddled up to her husband and daughter on her social media in December.
