Lucy Fallon welcomed her first child with boyfriend Ryan Ledson in January, and the new parents have now shared the name they've selected for their baby son. The ex-Coronation Street actress, 27, who starred in the ITV soap as Bethany Platt until 2020, has exclusively introduced her newborn son, Sonny Jude, in a new OK! interview, where she and footballer Ryan, 25, opened up about their baby's birth and his sweet moniker. The couple have revealed there isn't a specific meaning behind Sonny's name, it was just one of the few monikers they both agreed they liked for their little one.
New mum Lucy shared: “I kept adding names to a list, so we had it set in stone ages which is good because I’m usually indecisive. I liked quite a lot of names Ryan didn’t. Some of them were a bit out there, like Fox.
”Sonny does have a sweet meaning behind it, as the moniker means "son". It is of British origin and is most commonly a male name, according to The Bump, which has seen a spike in popularity over recent years. Meanwhile the tot's middle name, Jude, is a gender neutral moniker, most commonly used for boys, of Greek origin, which means "praised".
New dad Ryan revealed he wasn't too keen on a quirky name for his and Lucy's son, and Sonny appeared to be the perfect fit as they continued to use the name throughout Lucy's pregnancy. “When you’re from Liverpool, there was just no chance - he would get ribbed non stop. As the weeks were going on in the pregnancy, we were calling him Sonny," the footballer said.
