Love Island fans were unimpressed with Sammy Root this evening after his behaviour towards Jess Harding, with some accusing him of using her as his "safety net". After an awkward challenge saw Sammy lock lips with bombshell arrival Leah last night, Jess was invited on a date with the newest bombshell, Scott Van Der Sluis.
The 22 year old Connah's Quay footballer was keen to get to know the bubbly blonde, with the duo giggling away through drinks and dinner outside of the villa. When chatting with the girls, Jess said her date with the new bombshell made her realise her feelings towards Sammy - but he'd spent lots of time with Leah while Jess was away.
As with all Love Island drama, it was heavily dissected on social media. One fan referenced footage of Sammy cosying up to Leah and predicted: "They’re going to show these clips of Sammy to Jess further along the line." Another said: "I don’t know if Sammy actually like Jess", while a third commented: "I’m sorry but Sammy doesn’t care about Jess she is just his safety net!!!!" One fan added: "sammy is soooo irritating like why is he here??" and another urged: "jess ditch sammy please".
After returning from their date, Jess introduced new bombshell Scott to the villa before catching up with Sammy to find out about his chats with Leah while she was gone. Jess joked: “Heard you were talking to Leah all night…” Sammy laughed: “Not all night, stop it.” Jess went on to discuss how her date with Scott made her feel and revealed: “I’ve been open and honest with you.
