Love Island fans were already left complaining over a major new twist unveiled in the ITV2 reality dating series' launch instalment. Fans will remember that in past editions the dating hopefuls are introduced to each other by the show's host, which is now Maya Jama, and given the chance to choose who they each want to couple up with. There's no shortage of drama, as contestants can make steals from the get-go, but the islanders feel satisfied that they're given the initial control. This time however, show bosses have decided to shake the format up and gave the public the power instead, but it meant that the islanders all had a chance to mingle and chat in the villa beforehand.
Fans were decidedly unimpressed as they witnessed first girls through the door, Ruchee Gurung, 24, and Jess, 22, already having the opportunity to chat to Sheffield boy Mitchel Taylor, 26, before anyone else could. After that, Andre swooped into the villa, and it wasn't long before the group were already laying it on thick with the flirting.Taking to Twitter, fans shared their annoyances over the change.
"Bringing a boy in??? WOZ GOING ON," one person wrote. Another shared: "Mandem and girls are mixing this time? Interesting...
what are they plotting here." "Wait, what?!? A boy????" a third exclaimed. While a fourth said: "This is like Too Hot To Handle, I don't understand why they've changed it!! #loveisland." Another agreed, saying: "New love island opening is giving too hot to handle #LoveIsland", while someone else commented: "Is this too hot to handle or #LoveIsland." Following a vote, viewers have picked the islanders they thought were the most compatible, based on looks and their initial bios and video interviews.
