Jack Dunn The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has been informed of a possible measles exposure at Universal Studios, county officials reported Saturday. The possible exposure stems from one case of measles from an out of state tourist who traveled through the Los Angeles area from March 30 to April 1. The infected person visited Universal Studios on March 30 and the Santa Monica Pier on March 31.
The situation involved one person who visited a number of other Los Angeles locations including the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream in Beverly Hills and several restaurants at Universal Studios and elsewhere. Universal Studios addressed the situation in a statement to Variety, pointing the public to the county’s health department for more information. “We were recently made aware that a guest who had been exposed to measles visited numerous Southern California locations including our theme park,” Universal Studios said in a statement.
“While there is very low risk of transmission as a result of effective vaccination, the safety and security of our guests and team members is of utmost importance. More information is available through the Department of Public Health.” Individuals who were at the reported locations during the designated dates and times may be at risk for developing measles within 21 days from the exposure date, the county stated. “Measles is spread by air and by direct contact even before you know you have it and can lead to severe disease,” said Muntu Davis, Los Angeles County health officer.

Slamdance said Tuesday that its annual film festival will move to Los Angeles starting in February 2025. The move, organizers said, will allow for the continued growth of the festival’s year-round mission to provide an accessible community for independent filmmakers and creators.
There was a fleeting moment in the early and mid-00s when being selected for the Slamdance Film Festival could mean something for a filmmaker’s career. Sure, it wasn’t the same as being part of the more prestigious and larger Park City, Utah film festival, but the edgier offshoot event gave a voice to independent films that didn’t have an industry connection or agency influence to make the Sundance cut.
experience, which was advertised as an immersive event based on the recent Timothée Chalamet movie, Wonka, went viral when it appeared to be a disappointment to many ticket holders. At £35 a ticket, attendees were promised audio and visual effects, chocolate fountains and a totally interactive experience, but were instead presented with low-budget props, limited refreshments and an AI-generated script, all carried out in an abandoned warehouse. The complaints made resulted in the event being closed on the same day it opened,The event was organised by a collective of local artists unaffiliated with those behind the original event and purposely replicated it, hosting it in a worn-down warehouse with an underwhelming number of props and even AI-generated art. Guests were even offered two jelly beans in a nod to the original event.Beyond that, attendees got to enjoy THC-infused candyfloss, Oompa Loompa-themed cocktails and some adult on-stage performances.
