"I thought the players all over the park were brilliant. We set up in a way that I felt would match up really well. They like to press high and set plays are big - they've got great delivery and Leighton Clarkson makes them click but I thought we nullified them.
"The most important thing was getting in with a clean sheet. From February onwards we were naive, weak and got bullied and that's not something that's going to happen this year. It reminded me of the days of Gallagher, Halkett and Lithgow. We forced the opposition to play long balls because it suited us down to the ground."
He added: "Last year with balls in our box I was very apprehensive but I never had that today and I thought they dealt with it very well while we were a wee bit unlucky in their box.
