‘Poker Face’: Benjamin Bratt on Cliff’s Finale Revenge and Why He Can Never Listen to That Blues Traveler Song Again

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer SPOILER ALERT: This interview contains spoilers from the “Poker Face” Season 1 finale, “The Hook,” now streaming on Peacock. Benjamin Bratt sucked it in like Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn to shoot one standout scene in the Season 1 finale of “Poker Face.” The bit in question featured a poetic recitation of the entire third verse (and one line of the hook) of Blues Traveler’s 1994 earworm “Hook” by Bratt’s character, Cliff Legrand, to Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale while taking her back for judgement by his boss, casino mogul Sterling Frost Sr. Why does he do this (an act that makes Charlie call him “the fucking worst”)? Only “Poker Face” creator Rian Johnson really knows for sure — but Bratt, Lyonne and “Poker Face” showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman were all on board with the idea once the “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion” filmmaker wrote it into Episode 10, aptly titled “The Hook.”

Ministers did not understand their own lockdown rules, former GMP chief says

Ministers did not understand their own Covid lockdown rules, causing confusion and 'huge resentment' among the police charged with enforcing them, a former GMP chief has said. Police forces across the UK were criticised for their sometimes heavy-handed approach to enforcing lockdown rules, including using drones to monitor people going for a walk in the Peak District and breaking up a child's birthday party in Salford.

Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar’s Lockdown Drama ‘Bheed’ Presented in Black and White, Evoking 1947 Partition (EXCLUSIVE)

Naman Ramachandran Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming social drama “Bheed,” starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, is a rarity in contemporary Indian cinema in that it is made completely in black and white. Images from the film, which is set during the 2020 Indian pandemic lockdown and tells the hard-hitting story of migrant workers stranded without basic necessities while trying to go home to their villages, are deliberately evocative of the 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan and people were uprooted from their homes in the largest migration in history. Sinha said: ” ‘Bheed’ is a story of the most perilous times which changed everything for humanity. The key objective of shooting the film in black and white was to showcase how the visuals of the social disparity during India’s lockdown were strikingly similar to what people went through during the 1947 India partition. This story is about people whose lives changed in a snap and the colors from their lives were lost when the border was drawn within the country.”

‘Harry Potter’ Star Evanna Lynch: ‘I Wish People Would Give’ J.K. Rowling ‘More Grace and Listen to Her’

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Evanna Lynch is the latest “Harry Potter” star to comment on the ongoing controversy regarding author and franchise creator J.K. Rowling’s gender beliefs, which have been routinely criticized for being anti-transgender. Lynch starred in the “Harry Potter” film franchise as the quirky Luna Lovegood. Back in 2020, Lynch deleted her Twitter after commenting on Rowling’s controversy. The actor said “it’s irresponsible to discuss such a delicate topic” as transgender rights on Twitter and “I wish [Rowling] wouldn’t,” but she added, “That said, as a friend and admirer of Jo I can’t forget what a generous and loving person she is.” Lynch received blowback at the time for supporting Rowling. In a new interview with The Telegraph, Lynch opened up about her relationship with the controversial author. The two first linked up long before Lynch joined the “Harry Potter” movies. The actor was 11 and living with anorexia and wrote a letter to Rowling about her struggle. The author responded and sent Lynch “incredible, wise letters” while she was in recovery.
