Check it out below.Arriving earlier this week via Young, the track first made an appearance during Jamie xx’s 2021 headline set at All Points East, and is the first collaboration between the cross-continentally-based DJs and producers – who made the track through video calls during the pandemic.After over three years in the works, the single finally received its official release yesterday (April 15) on Young.
It premiered on Radio 1’s Future Artists with Jack Saunders and, in an interview with the host, Jamie xx also confirmed that a new solo LP is on the way, which will mark his first since 2015’s ‘In Colour’.Listen to the storming new track below, which captures the same charm of ‘90s house, and embeds some old-school disco horns at the midway point. ‘Baddy On The Floor’ marks Jamie xx and Honey Dijon’s first time working together on a song, although the two have previously appeared on the same line-ups in the past, including The xx’s 2018 Night + Day festival in Bilbao and Jamie xx’s curated Manchester Warehouse Project in 2021.The xx producer made his comeback at the start of the year with the single ‘It’s So Good’ – his first new music under his own name since 2022.
