EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Rain and Boilermaker Entertainment have acquired the rights to Lindy Ryan’s anticipated horror-mystery novel, Bless Your Heart, which will be published by St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books on April 9. Rain and Boilermaker are packaging the project for television and are starting writer meetings immediately.
Bless Your Heart is set in a small Southeast Texas town where the dead have a habit of rising from their graves. The story revolves around four generations of Evans women who run the local funeral parlor and are tasked with making sure dead things stay buried. In book one of a series, family secrets come to light and the Evans women are forced to confront the truth that the biggest monster may be one of their own.
“Lindy’s incredible voice shines in this first novel which is tailor made for screen adaptation, and serves as the basis for a wonderfully rich franchise” said Rain principal Rob Wolken. “We can’t wait to bring this to the market and for people to meet the incredible Evans women”.
Bless Your Heart is Ryan’s debut novel. She made her directorial debut with the animated short Trick or Treat, Alistair Gray (2022), which she also wrote and executive produced.
