Strictly Come Dancing star Les Dennis has said that he is "really happy" with his dramatic weight loss despite being the first celebrity to be eliminated. Les, who is best known for hosting the quiz show Family Fortunes, was voted off the BBC dancing programme on Sunday, October 1, after just two dances. On Saturday 30 September, 69 year old Les, and his partner Nancy Xu took to the dance floor to perform a Samba, but they only managed to score 15 points from the judges.
That low score, combined with the public vote, left Les in the first dance off of the series alongside Nikita Kanda and her professional partner Gorka Márquez.
Despite improving with his second go at the dance, it wasn't enough, and all four judges decided to save Nikita, meaning Les and Nancy left the show. However, it's not all bad news for the TV star, as he has said that he is leaving the show a stone and a half lighter after just a few weeks of training. Before his dance on Saturday, Les told Heat : "I've lost 20lbs.
I'm feeling really happy about it." He then added: "Now I'm a bit thinner, I don't mind whacking a few more sequins on. Nothing sheer, though.
This does go out before the watershed." This is not the first time that Les has spoken honestly about his weight loss journey, which kicked off in 2017 when he came down with laryngitis, and it made him reassess his health. Les found that he was pre-diabetic, during a check-up on his swollen vocal cords, and he was told that he needed to make a major change if he wanted to extend his life expectancy.
