On the third day of his trial at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, the jury of six men and six women watched a video interview police conducted with the defendant's second accuser, referred to in press reports as Woman B.
She described how Mr Jones encouraged her to sniff from a medicine bottle which made her feel 'instantly really really sleepy' before he allegedly raped her. The defendant was thought of as a 'charismatic guy' and thought of himself as a 'ladies man', according to the woman.
She told police she struggled to ‘admit to myself that it happened’, but said it had been ‘in the back of [her] mind’. About five years ago she said she saw Lawrence featured in a story in Cheshire Life but that she feared ‘raking it all up’.
The woman said she later watched a documentary on Jimmy Savile on Netflix and ‘thought about it again’. She said she ‘couldn’t really sleep’ and searched up Mr Jones again and saw that he had been charged with a rape in Salford on 1993.
