With the WGA Strike almost over (the contract still has to be ratified and signed by members), fans are starting to think about just when late night talk shows could return.
According to Variety, many of the fan fave late night talk shows – including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and more – could be back on the air as soon as October.

A handful of insiders told the outlet that writers are looking to return as soon as possible.
“We want to come back ASAP,” one source shared with the outlet.
Another then added, “I think everybody’s leaning forward, like they’re ready to go…. I would look for them to return on October 2 or October 9. I think that they are going to be very motivated to get their crews working again.”
While WGA strike is over, the SAG-AFTRA one is still in force. However, the hosts of the late night talk shows can return as the shows are under a network code that is not part of the strike.
But, as many know, even with that, the hosts might not return so quickly to show solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA actors.
There were also a handful of other talk shows, many that aired during the daytime, who were called out as they attempted to return before the strike was over.

“We missed so much [during the last five months] that it would take a whole new version of Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start The Fire to cover it,” said John Oliver as he returned to the Last Week Tonight desk.
Now that the WGA strike is over, talk shows that have been dark since May will be returning with new episodes next week.
