Kumail Nanjiani will play Chippendales founder Somen “Steve ” Banerjee in an upcoming Hulu limited series called “Immigrant.” The show was announced Tuesday morning by Hulu and ABC chief Craig Erwich during Disney’s upfront press briefing.“Immigrant” is the true story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee (Nanjiani), the Indian-American entrepreneur who started Chippendales.

Kumail Nanjiani is to star in and exec produce a drama limited series about the origin story of stripper troupe Chippendales.

If any of the acting categories for the Limited Series or TV Movie contenders are in flux it’s the race for the Lead Actor Emmy.
