Kirsty Gallacher has candidly revealed she suffered a breakdown after her divorce from husband Paul Sampson in 2015. The presenter, 47, said she sunk into a deep depression which led to her collapsing on Sky Sports in 2016 as she struggled to juggle her broadcasting duties, Strictly Come Dancing and being a new single mum to her two boys; Jude, 13, and Oscar, 16. In a candid new interview, Kirsty has spoken about how she became an emotional wreck after the breakdown of her five-year marriage to the rugby player, 45.
Kirsty said while it may have seemed like she had everything together, behind the scenes she was falling apart and didn't enjoy Strictly due to her heartache. 'I was a wreck. I was skinny as rake.
I was running on empty, running from dance rehearsals with the lovely Brendan Cole to Sky Sports to rehearsals at night,' she told her friend of 25 years Gabby Logan in the Mid Point podcast. 'It was more than exhausting, emotionally, physically. 'There was nothing negative about the show apart from me being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It was like a cauldron of emotion. ''I had a breakdown. I didn't cope very well after that.
I kept going for so long,' she added. Kirsty also briefly touched upon 'wrong decisions' she made. The TV sports presenter was slapped with an 18-month driving ban after she was found to be three times the legal limit in Eton in 2017, the morning after a night out with pals.
'I made some wrong decisions. my decision making wasn't great,' she said, but said she didn't want to go into them. Kirsty moved on to talk about the moment she collapsed on Sky Sports.
