Before becoming King after his mother died on September 8 2022, Charles had his fair share of controversies over the years.
He's not the only member of the royal family known for occasionally putting his foot in his mouth as Prince Phillip famously said: "You managed not to get eaten then?", while speaking to a British student who was trekking through Papua New Guinea in 1988.
As well as the incident where Phillip told a group of British exchange students in China in 1986: "If you stay here much longer, you’ll get slitty eyes".
King Charles ' blunder was slightly more discreet as he forgot his microphone was on during an interview in 2005, where he famously let slip a rude comment about a reporter. Charles was on holiday with his sons Prince William and Prince Harry at the Klosters ski resort when he was quizzed by the press about his upcoming wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles, reports the Mirror.
It seemed like Charles had hoped for some peace and quiet during his trip away while he enjoyed his family holiday, but it didn't quite go to plan. When asked how he felt about his upcoming nuptials to Camilla by BBC's royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell, he somewhat cheekily replied: "I'm very glad you heard of it anyway," after which his face could be seen contorting into an awkward, exasperated grin.
The future King could then be heard through gritted teeth uttering: "Bloody people. I can't bear that man. He's so awful. He really is."
It's unclear whether Charles truly forgot about his microphone being on after making the under his breath comment, but the future King knew he was surrounded by cameras and reporters.
