Ken Bruce admits he's been 'struggling to plan his day' after his BBC Radio 2 exit as he makes his debut on his new show.
The Scots broadcaster announced he would be leaving the BBC after 31 years in January and is due to start his new career move at Greatest Hits Radio today, Monday, April 3. The Glasgow presenter, 72, will front his new show from 10am to 1pm on weekdays and will feature his popular segment radio quiz PopMaster.
Speaking to PA news agency ahead of his launch, ken said his Greatest Hits Radio show will be "much the same" as his one at the BBC as he doesn't want to introduce "massive great bells and whistles stuff" into the format.
He said: "It's just going to be nice things to keep people engaged, keep people listening, and taking part in the show, it'll just be much the same as it was before just in a different place."
When asked if he has had to make any adjustments since changing to commercial station at Bauer Media, he said: "I'm struggling to work my day out. I think I'm going to be going to bed an hour later because I just have to squeeze everything into the remaining hours of the day."
He added: "Once I get my body clock, right. I think I'll be all right, but I'm really enjoying having a half-hour extra in bed every morning."
After announcing his departure from the BBC, there was speculation of bad blood between the broadcaster and his former employer but Ken has rubbished these claims. He told PA that he is still friends with his former colleagues and feels "very, very warm towards" his former employer.
He described it as a "great organisation" but added that it was time for him to leave. In a statement announcing his exit from BBC Radio 2 in January, Ken declared it was "time for a change."
