Katherine Ryan has broken her silence for the first time since Russell Brand was accused of rape and sexual assault.
The Canadian comedienne, 40, took to the stage on Wednesday night at the RTS Cambridge and referenced the 'elephant in the room', reports MailOnline. She reportedly later insisted on stage that she was referring to her two-stone weight loss and didn't discuss her former colleague.
Brand, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse in a joint investigation led by The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches. He has publicly denied the allegations.
Katherine's appearance comes after reports suggested she appeared to imply Brand was a "sexual predator" in a Louis Theroux documentary.
Brand worked alongside Katherine as a judge for just one season of Comedy Central's Roast Battle, before he exited the show in 2018. According to Deadline, he had been left angry when Katherine allegedly called him out on 'predatory' behaviour - which he reportedly denied but the scenes were cut from the show.
Katherine previously claimed in a chat with Louis Theroux that she told a comedian 'to his face' that he was a sexual predator and that accusations against this person were an 'open secret'.
She claimed she had received criticism afterwards for not naming the person in question but said just talking about him was a 'litigious minefield' as he had 'very good lawyers'.
Earlier this week, Katherine told The Mail how she and her female co-stars have avoided speaking out about sexual predators working in the industry over fears they will be seen as 'trouble makers'.
She also confirmed that female comics do share their stories and fears over which men are predatory because they view that as being the best way to keep
