Before Prince William and Kate Middleton were married the pair were required to spend Christmas apart and reunite on New Year's Eve.
Tradition often dictated that Kate could not spend the big day with the royals at Sandringham, so she and Prince William had December 25 apart, reports the Mirror.

However, their split seemed to be short-lived as not long after, William and Kate were spotted kissing at an army party at Barracks in Bovington, Dorset.
In July 2007, Kate and her brother James were also spotted at a Concert for Diana, held at Wembley to mark 10 years since William’s mother Princess Diana's death.
Their romance was confirmed back on not long after, and Kate moved into William’s Clarence House flat, where he would return from military duties on Friday nights for cosy
