The doors of Kensington Palace are set to open to the public this Christmas, as a new festive ice rink makes its debut to the public. ICE is set to attract plenty of visitors, with a countdown already in place on the official website.
A post on the Kensington Palace Facebook page reads: “We're much more than just an ice rink ICE at Kensington Palace is all about creating magical moments, with sustainability at the forefront of everything we do. With a range of delicious food and beverages, exclusive VIP zones, activities & festive shopping, it's this winter's most anticipated London event.” There are currently limited details surrounding the ice rink, but more information will be revealed on the official page on 6 September.
The ICE at Kensington Palace extravaganza promises sustainability at its core and will aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible during all aspects of its planning and running stages. In further sustainability efforts, the ICE event will aim to use HVO powered generators in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90 per cent.
Sustainability is a key focus of Prince William and Princess Catherine as they continue to shine a light on this important topic.
The pair will fly to New York in September, in order to promote the prince’s environmental Earthshot prize. Founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in 2020, The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental prize that aims to discover and develop ground-breaking solutions to solve the climate crisis.
