Kanye “Ye” West is set to buy Parler, the app’s parent company said in a statement Monday (October 17).
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” Kanye said in Parler’s statement.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Parler officials said the deal is expected to close by the end of the year.

The 45-year-old rapper was recently locked out of his Twitter and Instagram accounts for making antisemitic remarks. On Twitter, his account was restricted after he said he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”
“This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech,” Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said in a prepared statement.
Parler was launched in 2018 and became a haven far-right users who say they have been censored by other social media platforms.
At Candace Owens‘ documentary premiere, Kanye was confronted over his antisemitic remarks and was asked if he wished harm on the Jewish people.
